Time Away is an online journey into Australia's wilderness

iServ - A force to be reckoned with

The irresistable force and the immovable object that is the world-famous iServ is about to undergo its most adventurous and progressive transformation in the seven year history of the site. The site branded "an on-going saga that won't go away" by the rebellion is undergoing a huge makeover which will go off with a bang in a couple of weeks.

Along with a completely new look and feel, the new iServ will undergo some other changes. The big one is that there will be a new forum. Like the current one, it will allow users a 'safety valve' where they can leave their comments on whatever articles iServ is publishing at the time. The new forum will also require users to sign up as a member as it will be regarded as a premium service. This means that user comments (both read and write access) will only be available to members.

Almost the whole site will be database driven, which means that a search function will be a possibility in the future. Whilst is it possible to include such a function without using a database, the former option is far more powerful and configurable. Once again, this will be premium content and only available to those prepared to become members.

I think people will like what they see when it is finally up. On another note, I have registered a new domain name and have started developing a sister site for iServ. Details on naming are considered classified information at the moment and only two other people know of the existance of the site, which I will be hosting myself. All I will say at this stage is that the site has (will have) quite a large amount of content and while I have completed the site's front end, which has received rave reviews from those few who have seen it, the rest of the static content will take at least another six months to compile and type up. This new site will also have a political digest, a bit like iServ's, but not containing identical articles, and a user forum, once again, like the one iServ is about to have. This new site will be the greatest web project I have been involved with to date and promises to provide weeks of initial reading for visitors as well as continued daily updates/additions to keep people coming back.

Once again, the wonderful world of iServ promises and delivers.
